The 2009 High Point Wildcats are bringing their hard nose running offense to the new NJAC Conference this season. Head coach Jim Delaney enters his third year as head coach and is looking forward to facing a group of all new opponents. “Obviously we are familiar with all of the SCIL teams that we have faced in the past. But I think it will be an interesting year facing a lot of new teams.” Delaney said of the realignment. The northern most team in the conference will bring its logistical challenges for some of the Morris County teams but Delaney thinks the new schedule will be good for everyone. “We are way out of the way up here, but I think teams will enjoy coming up to our field.” The Wildcats play most of their home games on Saturday afternoons. However, they will bring in lights for one home game against new rival Mendham. OFFENSE Carrying the ball in Delaney’s offense will be a pool of talented backs which will keep opponents on their toes. Leading the pack will be the talented junior Austin Caldwell (6’, 205lbs). Caldwell will be joined by seniors Joe Beltran (5’7”, 167lbs) and Dylan Walsh (5’9”, 170lbs). Vying for the quarterback job are both junior Joe Drossel (6’, 165lbs) and junior Kevin Fasano (190lbs). Giving Drossel and Fasano a passing outlet will be junior receivers Jared Musilli(5’7”, 165lbs) and David Beltran (5’10”, 165lbs).
